Unhappy with 6th pay panel’s package, CRPF meets Sonia

The Central ReservePolice Force (CRPF) is not satisfied with the recommendations of Sixth Pay Commission for the paramilitary forces, and has approached Congress President Sonia Gandhi to look into the matter, said Additional Director General (NW) Pranay Sahai, while addressing the troops here on the occasion of Valour Day.

Officials also said that they made a representataion to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh about their expectations from the Sixth Pay Commission and are hopeful that the paramilitary force will get allowances and a pay scale as per their expectations.

ADG Pranay Sahai conferred awards to 19 persons for their meritorious services and ADG Commendation discs.

He also appreciated the efforts of the troops safeguarding the integrity of the nation. He said more than 85 per cent CRPF troops have been deployed in sensitive areas, including the counter-insurgency operations in Jammu and Kashmir and Naxal-affected areas.

“We have lost a number of personnel in the operations. Till now, we have successfully conducted numerous operations in the areas and have been successful in most of them,” he said.

He added that the role of the paramilitary force in the counter- insurgency operations has been appreciated and said they would intensify the operations to eliminate anti-social elements creating unrest in the country.
